The Yukon community and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol are mourning the tragic deaths of four young individuals in a wrong-way crash along Interstate 40 early Tuesday morning. The collision claimed the lives of Kiercey Hickson, 20, of Stillwater; Quincy Jones, 19, of El Reno; Haleigh Salazar, 18, of El Reno; and Brad Palmer, 18, of El Reno. Authorities reported the crash occurred near Czech Hall Road around 12:30 a.m., when a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes struck the victims’ car.
A 26-year-old man from Tennessee, Michael Cruz, was driving the wrong-way vehicle and collided head-on with the victims. Cruz sustained critical injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. Emergency crews arrived quickly, providing care and securing the scene. Despite their efforts, all four passengers died at the scene. Troopers and first responders worked through the night to manage traffic and document evidence.
Kiercey Hickson is remembered by her family as bright, loving, and full of life. Her family said, “Kiercey had her whole life ahead of her… she brought so much light, laughter, and love into the lives of everyone who knew her.” Quincy Jones, Haleigh Salazar, and Brad Palmer were also full of promise, and their families and friends are struggling to process the loss. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash, examining roadway conditions, vehicle positions, and witness accounts to determine what happened. Authorities urge motorists to remain vigilant, report wrong-way drivers, and exercise caution, particularly on high-speed highways.
