Matt played an important role in the British motorcycle racing scene as the Co-ordinator of the British Talent Cup, now known as the Moto4 British Cup. In this position, he dedicated his time and expertise to developing young riders across the UK and Europe. He was widely respected for his coaching ability, guidance, and unwavering support for athletes in the junior classes, helping to shape the early careers of many competitors.
Within the British Championship community, Matt was known not only for his professional commitment but also for his personal investment in the riders he worked with. He was someone who believed in developing talent, offering encouragement, and pushing young athletes to reach their potential while providing steady support along the way. His influence extended beyond technical coaching, leaving a lasting impression on the people he mentored.

A memorial service for Matthew Balchin is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 16th June at St James Church in Emsworth, Hampshire, where family, friends, and members of the racing community are expected to gather in his honor.
